Hello!
Welcome to our Yamala Yoga Monthly Newsletter for August.
Where has this year gone?! Honestly! We cannot believe August is here already. A few little updates for a rather busy month here at Yamala Yoga. Our darling Gran is celebrating her 90th this month….so to celebrate we are off to eat cake and drink champagne with her! This means unfortunately we won’t be running any classes for a week (she lives in Hobart….). There will be no class on Tuesday 21 Aug and Wednesday 22 Aug. We’re sorry for any inconvenience.
Due to the cooler weather and lack of interest, we have cancelled our Sunday morning classes at Paddington. Our last Sunday session will be this Sunday 5th August. We would love to see you there! Also, please note that there will be no Class on the Ekka Public Holiday (sorry Mummas, that one affects you again!).

Why it’s important to listen to your body during a yoga class
You’ve probably heard us say a million times during a yoga class, “listen to your
body”, but why do we ask you to do that?
The truth is, it’s important to listen to your body ALL the time, but especially in a yoga class when postures and breathing can be a little more challenging than you are used to. By really tuning in to your body for that moment (remembering that it will be different every day!), you creature a sense of
awareness, and ownership of your body. You will better stretch your body as it needs to in that moment, and you will also find that stillness in your mind that we so often crave after a yoga practice.
Some days are more stressful, you are busier, rushed off your feet….and you need a yoga practice to help calm you down and stretch you out. Other days, you might find that you are full of energy and ready for a twenty Sun Salutations with full on yogi push ups each time. It’s a matter of listening to what your body needs and changing your practice to suit.
At Yamala Yoga (and hopefully any yoga class you go to!), you have the freedom to change any pose to suit. Perhaps you want to sit in childs pose for a few breaths just to bring your focus back to your breath. If that is what your body is calling for, DO IT! We are HUGE advocates of YOUR yoga practice. We are simply facilitating a flow for the whole class but that doesn’t mean that you can’t modify it to suit your body in that moment.
It actually makes us really proud to see people listening to their bodies and doing what feels good, rather than pushing through something that might be a little too challenging.
So, that’s the reason why! Next time you’re in a yoga class, really listen to what your body is telling you
and make changes accordingly and see how much MORE you benefit from that class.
Something a little extra….
How to Be Inspirational
We all have them in our lives. Those individuals who have inspired or improved our lives in one way or another, usually encouraging us to push ourselves, achieve something memorable or just work towards being a better person. There is no one magic way we can be an inspiration to others, but a great step is to start leading by example and take the time to help others. Think about those who inspire you. What qualities make them inspirational to you? Plan to make these qualities a part of who you are.
Start by setting an example. Identify small changes that you want to make to your lifestyle which you can put into action straight away. Improving your diet, doing more exercise or spending more time reading or meditating. Whatever it is, that you can do now. Try incorporating others into this too though! Perhaps spend more time with family or visit your grandparents more often. Living your life with purpose, even through difficult times is also very inspiring to others, so stick at it.
By building our own confidence and self-belief…we are not only improving our life, but perhaps inspiring others around us to do the same.

try.❞ — Unknown.
