Hello! Welcome to another monthly newsletter.
It has been so wonderful watching so many new mums and their bubs join into our classes on a Wednesday outside the Grange Library. It honestly brings a smile across our faces when we witness mums catching up each week, enjoying some yoga and getting outdoors. It does wonders for the mind, soul and body. So many of you took advantage of our Feb offer for the 10 Class Pass too, which is AMAZING! Good on you for making yourself a priority in 2019!
February was a busy month for us at Yamala, as Meg welcomed little Teddy to the world on Wednesday 20th. It was such an honour to be there to witness the beautiful entrance of Teddy to this world, women and mothers really just blow my mind. WE ARE INCREDIBLE! Some of you may have been able to catch a glimpse of our newest yogi at yoga already (I’ll say it again, Meg is incredible!!). He is just so divine.
Keep an eye out for the coming months, as we might start up a Friday Mums & Bubs Yoga session too! Let us know if you are keen, and what time suits you and your bub best and we will see what we can do.
✽ General Yoga at the Paddington Annexe, Paddington. Our classic Yamala Yoga style class with plenty of flows, deep stretches and meditation suitable for everyone (including beginners, children and advanced yogis!). Casual Classes are $15 or $100 for a 10 Class Pass.
- No Classes for Term 1, 2019
***Please note that due to the arrival of Meg’s little babe at the start of 2019, there will be NO general yoga for Term 1, 2019. We do apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. If you currently have available classes on your 10-class pass, we have extended the expiry date 10 weeks to account for the reduced classes early next year. We anticipate that Meg will be back to teaching again for Term 2, 2019 (23rd April). ***
✽ Mums & Bubs Yoga at Lanham Park, Grange (opposite the Grange Library on Sellheim St): Our favourite time of the week, yoga with beautiful mums and their gorgeous bubs. Suitable for all mums (or dad’s, grandparents, pregnant women, aunties, etc.!!) and children aged 0-5. The class is only $5 and we even have an onsite babysitter (Meg) to watch your kiddies, or they can get involved in the stretches too! Followed by coffee and chats at the cafe next to the library. Bliss!
- Wednesday @ 9:30am-10:15am
Just a reminder that unfortunately we don’t have eftpos facilities available at this time. So please remember to bring cash or do a bank transfer for your passes. Just ask us for bank details if you don’t have them already.
THIS MONTH’S TOP STORIES
An open letter [to my sister & all mothers.]
To my amazing sister, after the birth of your son.
I am so excited for you & A, as the joy, love and changes to your lives that little Teddy will bring is just so incredible. You’ve waited and wished for this gorgeous little bundle, and now you’ll see it was all worth the wait.
I cried the moment I held your precious little boy, because my heart was totally full of love- and now I get the feeling that you have been trying to explain to me since the birth of my little boy in Sept 2017. My heart is now so big, it could burst. (I love each of my niece and nephews, but I think those of my twin sister will always have such a magical place in my heart! A little piece of me I guess!?)
I have so much admiration for you after watching you bring your son into the world. I always thought of you as tough and bloody strong, but what you’ve shown me that all mothers have a special skill. No matter how we bring our babes into the world, we bring them in with so much love and kindness. The glow you had when he landed on your chest was just magical to witness. I thank you for trusting me to be there to help hold your hand and encourage you during those tough moments. It was a terrific honour to be there to welcome your first born into the world, and something I’ll never forget.
I don’t want you to think that becoming a mother has made you any more complete, fulfilled or wise. Because to me, you were all of these things before your son was born. I want to let you know though, that his arrival earthside means he is super lucky to be on the receiving end of all your love and thoughtfulness that makes you who you are.
A few things I’m sure you’re already learning, now that you’re gorgeous son is a week old. There is no such thing as perfect, you learn on the job and we all learn from one another with this gig! If you have to, fake it till you make it. No one knows your child better than you and my favorite- your child’s laughter is always the best medicine.
I hope our sons become as close as us. Because it has been absolutely amazing to have the love and support of someone I admire throughout my life. I feel so blessed to be able to share this journey into motherhood with you, my twin.
Something a little extra….
Finding your tribe
Community, tribe, friends & family…whatever you call it, it’s super important for us all to be connected to someone. Humans thrive when they have meaningful connections to others – and finding your tribe is one of the most rewarding things you can do for your soul.
There are many ways to connect with others, and the first step is figuring out what sort of tribe you want (note: you can have MANY tribes in your life!). Friends, family, work colleagues, mothers groups, hobby groups… these are just some ideas for you!
Do you love singing? Maybe joining a local choir will connect you to a wonderful bunch of people to become your tribe! Or maybe you have 4 amazing sisters that you know you can call when you want to hang out/winge about work/ask a favour/get advice from. Whatever your tribe looks like, it is important that you become an active member of that community… not only will you feel the benefits, but so will they! Win:win!
The biggest thing you can do with your tribe is to stay in touch. See them often, send messages, be present when you do catch up, and schedule time together for the future. Nurturing your tribe and your connection will give you an amazing feeling.
We promise, once you find your tribe… you’ll never want to let them go!
